Longing For Fall?

Autumn has long been my favorite season!!  I know a lot of us have been longing for Fall.   I’m sure that has a lot to do with the heat most of us have been dealing with off and on for the last several weeks.  We’re having a nice, cool morning here.  It’s almost 8:00 a.m and my windows and doors are all open to the breeze.  I haven’t even had to kick on the ceiling fans yet!  God has sent some refreshment my way the last day or two.  I hope you all will have a spell of cooler weather in the coming days as well.

I think another part of the longing for Fall is the desire to return to what we consider our normal schedules.  Summers tend to be a whirlwind of activities – vacations, camping trips, more work outside, days in the pool, etc.  However, I think it’s also just a part of our sin nature, too.  Lack of contentment for where we are right now.  Kelli had a great post on learning to be content in the summer.   Let’s remember that God gave the seasons to Noah with a promise:

“…..Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done.  While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.” Gen.8:21-22.

Let’s remember to look to the ant.  She labors diligently all summer long!  (I know because she and about a million of her sisters found the bucket of sugar in my storage this morning!!)
