I think all of us long for more hours in our day.  However, God in His infinite wisdom gives us all just 24 hours.  If the Lord thinks 24 hours are enough, who am I to quibble?

So, why do we think we need more time?  When I find myself with days that are too short, I can trace the problem back to one thing.  Sin in my life.  Is that true for you as well?  Lately I’ve been a lover of sleep and not rising early enough.  I’ve also not been a careful steward of the hours that the Lord has given me, and have frittered away too much time working on knitting projects and reading blogs.  Knitting (Christmas gifts for family) and reading blogs (something that truly does encourage me) are both good things; but I have made them sin in my life by giving them more time than they merit and letting them take me from the things the Lord would have me doing – loving my husband, loving my children, and looking well to the ways of my household.

Are there areas for you that are causing you to stumble in the area of making the best use of your days?  Sleeping in?  Too much time spent away from your home with kids’ lessons & activities, or with your own activities?  Too much time spent on the computer gaming or reading the blogs?  Too much time in front of  the TV?  Sewing?  Visiting?  You see, even good things can become bad if we devote too much time to them.

Today I have decided to heed Ephesians 5:15-17

“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time because the days are evil.  Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”

God bless you as you look well to the ways of your households!

  • This is exactly why I haven’t been around much in the blogosphere lately.  Even too much of a good thing is bad.  What  I am trying to remember is everything in moderation.  My priorities are God first, then my husband, children and home.  After all of the important things have been tended to THEN if I have some  time I will allow myself some blog fun:)  🙂  Wonderful post!

  • I agree!!  I’m up 4 or more times in the night with the baby (11 months) it leaves me very tired.  It’s easy to slip into a mind set of I’m tired so I’ll just sit at the pc all day or sit and read.  But then nothing gets done!  So I TRY to keep off the computer unless I’m printing school stuff out until after supper.
