Corin likes to quote me.  In fact she recently did a blog post on things that either she or I or both of us have been known to say.  Today I’ll quote myself,

“If you don’t laugh at yourself, you’ll end up crying (and then your eyes will get all puffy and your nose will get all stuffy and then you won’t be able to breathe!!)”

So, why am I giving this advice to myself today, you might ask?  I’m laughing at the fact that I made grandiose plans for what I would get done today.  Full day of homeschooling.  The normal Tuesday laundry and homemaking tasks. Tackling some of the monthly/quarterly etc. tasks that are on the list for this week.  Getting two small shrubs I bought a week ago into the ground.  Lots of stuff.  So, why am I laughing?

You see, it’s 2:30 in the afternoon and I’ve done the breakfast dishes!  Yep, all of that!!!  We needed to make an emergency run to the feed store this morning because we “accidentally” ran out of feed for our chicks.  Hating to waste a trip to town, I decided to run to WalMart to pick up a travel alarm for Dani for her trip, to buy her some new shades , and to pick up a few other things.  While we were getting gas, poor Aaron became quite ill and, well, did what quite ill 13 year old boys will do right next to the car at the gas station.  Poor kid!  He said he felt better, so we did stop for lunch.  He didn’t eat, but he sipped on a lemon-lime soda.  We got home okay, but he’s feeling awful and has continued to be sick all afternoon.  I’ve been Instant Messaging Corin off and on today and my four year old grandson (remember, the grandbabies were here last night) woke up throwing up this morning and has been sick all day.

I’m laughing because we just cannot have a bug in our home.  Not today!  Dani leaves home tomorrow evening, and flies to parts unknown very early Thursday morning.  And not only do we not want her sick leaving on her trip, we certainly do not want her giving anything to the family who has so graciously invited her to join them for the trip.  Nope…..we cannot have a bug in our home.  Can you see the fervent praying that’s going on here right now?????

So, I’m giggling at my plans.  God had something else in mind for us today!  I’d rather be in His will (even if it means sick kids) than doing my own thing and accomplishing my own agenda.  “A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps. ”  Proverbs 16:9

Make your plans!  After all, if we fail to plan, we plan to fail!  But hold those plans loosely and be available for what the Lord has in mind for your days!

God bless you as you look well to the ways of your households!

  • “Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Yep, sufficient for the day is it’s own trouble!

2 down here now (then up running to the bathroom, then down, then up running to the bathroom, then down… )

Hmmmmmmm… If I have the flu maybe they’ll give me more time before the version… :wha:

  • ACK!  Praying for lots of you!  They say laughter is the best medicine…..

  • Sounds like a day for Proverbs 3:5-6,  “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Hope your household is feeling better today!:sunny:

    Blessings,

  • What a wonderful way of looking at things. Having the right mindset certainly does make life a lot more bearable doesn’t it? Praying that everyone is well by now.

    God bless,

  • I have enjoyed your menu post. They have been very convicting. Beloved is deployed so eating at home is a little bit more of a challenge specially when we are out and about trying to keep busy to help the time go by faster. — Enjoyed this post as well!

  • I’m sorry to hear about the stomach flu going around your house, Cheryl. I will pray that everyone feels better soon and that Dani doesn’t catch it!! You have a wonderful attitude about the change of plans!

  • Oh no! So sorry to hear you have been hit by the sickies. Praying your kiddo and Corin’s get better quickly. Praying also that Dani doesn’t get it or carry it with her.

Isn’t it funny how sometimes God steps in and shows us that HE is the ultimate planner? 😉
