Dani and I were in town most of the day today doing our “big shop”.  The boys stayed home and entertained themselves, which made them available when our neighbor stopped by to borrow our utility trailer.  We had a good time out together, and enjoyed a lot of “girl talk” as we drove around.  We even splurged, since it was just the two of us,  and enjoyed a wonderful lunch (that held us over through dinner as well) at a favorite Mexican restaurant.

I was thrilled that there was a bit of money in the budget for some plants today.  My front porch has looked mighty bare since I took everything around back for our little poolside retreat.  I’m looking forward to spending some time on Monday potting them up and arranging and hanging them on the front porch.  For now, they have all been given a nice drink of water and they’ll wait, I hope, for me until Monday.

Dani and I always have some sort of handwork to occupy us on the hour long drive to church and back again on Sunday.  It occurred to her today that Will might benefit from an assortment of activities for the ride each week, too.  He has been listening to a book on CD on the trip (the boys each have inexpensive little CD players with headphones that they purchased for themselves), and he has had a little tub of toys in the car for awhile, too.  However, it’s been the SAME book on CD and the SAME tub of toys for weeks!  We found a very sturdy, yet cute little lined basket today for a song.  Dani has been busily working tonight to fill it with some different car activities for him in preparation for Sunday morning.  The basket will ride quite comfortably on the floor of the van just beside Will’s seat, and Dani will be sure to keep the things in his basket changed out for him so that he doesn’t get bored.  Great idea!  She found some great printable activity booklets and things on-line, too.  Perhaps she’ll mention those on her blog for any who might be interested.

I will be away from my home all day tomorrow, which is very unusual for me.  However, for the past few years Corin and I have enjoyed attending the VHE homeschool conference together.  What a treat it is to attend a homeschooling conference with my homeschool graduate daughter as she begins homeschooling the first of my grandchildren.  It’s such a joy to be homeschooling moms together!

For any of you that will be attending VHE tomorrow, please be sure to say, “Hello” if you see me there.  Whether you are a regular commenter here, or even if you are just a quiet “lurker”, be sure to stop me to say hi and to introduce yourself.   My picture at the top of the side bar is current.  I’d love to meet any and all of you that might be there!  (Katie, Sherry, you going?)  What fun it will be to meet some new friends!

I’ll post again, Lord willing, on Monday evening.  Have a wonderful Lord’s day!

God bless you as you look well to the ways of your households!

  • I do hope you and Corin enjoy the Homeschool Conference tomorrow. I saw on Carmon’s blog that she was going to get to see you!! How lovely! πŸ™‚

  • Have a blessed time at the conference! Way to go ~ to Dani for considering her brother’s needs, even if just for a car ride! What a virtuous woman you are rasing! God will surely bless you both for your faithfulness.

Keep writing! You inspire me, not only to do more in my home, but to be a better Godly wife, mother, friend.

  • This will be the first year of eleven years that I will not attend the VHE. I feel out of sorts not going. πŸ™ I pray your time will be refreshing and nourishing to your heart, wise choices will be made, and that you’ll soak in God’s best from the session speakers. Bless you.

  • What a sweet sister Dani is. πŸ™‚ Hope you had a good conference. Have a blessed weekend.

  • I think Dani’s ideas of car activities is wonderful…I’ll have to keep those inexpensive CD/headphones in mind. We have several learning CD’s that we try to listen to in the van but the noise of driving is too loud.

Have a wonderful time at the conference..I wish I could go and meet you and your girls…that would be so much fun!!
