I’m still here, just busy, busy, busy!  We were out all day yesterday for our shopping and errands day.  We didn’t get home until after 6:00!  We are back on a “cash” system for our shopping, and that slowed me down quite a bit.  Swiping that ATM card is quick, but it’s oh, so easy to spend over budget that way!  I shopped with cash only for many years, and it is nice being back to a cash system.

Today I’ve been busy with all of the normal Saturday cleaning, watering, laundry, menu planning for next week, cooking, etc.  Added to that, I’m working on a bit of school planning and drove Aaron to a birthday party early this afternoon.  I’ll need to go pick him up again soon.  When I left he was having lunch and chatting happily with several of the boys from church.  What a good time he’ll have, and I can’t wait to hear all about it on the drive home.

When I came back in the house after dropping Aaron off, I was met by the most amazing aromas.  Dani is busily baking up a storm in the kitchen today.  Several dozen cookies to share at our church fellowship meal after church, our coffee cake for tomorrow morning, and two – count ’em, TWO – beautiful cakes to share after dinner as we and another family visit in the home of a third, dear family.  It has smelled wonderful in my home all day!

Tomorrow’s clothes are ironed and hung, ready to wear in the morning.  Bags of play clothes for after church, activities for the car, and our church basket are still to be packed.  It makes for a more peaceful start to the Lord’s Day to have everything ready the evening before.  Clothes are chosen, checked and hung out ready to put on.  Any extra clothes or things that the boys will need for after church are packed and placed by the back door.  Books, my knitting, etc., for the long drive to and from church are likewise packed up and placed by the back door.  Our church basket is packed with Bibles, notebooks, etc.  The food for our fellowship meal is prepared on Saturday and refrigerated, or carefully wrapped, until it is loaded into the car on Sunday morning.  Last week we discovered that we should probably pack our water bottles and cold drinks for the drive home the night before as well so they aren’t forgotten!

My Saturday is quite busy, even busier than normal; but tomorrow is the Lord’s Day!  We will enjoy a time of corporate worship and praise with our church family, and then a time of extended fellowship lasting until evening.  What joy there is serving the Lord in my home during the week.  It is what I am called to do.  What joy there is worshipping Him and enjoying the day He has set apart for me on Sunday.  It is what I am called to do.  Have a wonderful Lord’s Day tomorrow.

God bless you as you look well to the ways of your household!

  • I know you are busy but when you have a chance I’ve nominated you for the Subversive Frugality Award. 😀

  • Missed being with you today- we’re home nursing a sick daddy 🙁

  • You set such a good example, Cheryl. I was busy with several BIG projects yesterday (cleaning and organizing) that I didn’t get my husband’s shirts ironed. He didn’t complain, just mentioned jokingly that I might be “shirking” my wifely duties! He knows how busy I was yesterday, but I still don’t like to leave any room for disappointment. Looks like Monday will be my evening to iron – no matter how hot it is!
All the laundry to caught up, though! I’m thankful for that!

Thank you for sharing your days with us. So fun to hear from you!

  • If you don’t mind my curiosity, how long is your drive to church? We have had a 30 minute drive before, but are now blessed with a drive that is only about 2 minutes! And I’ve seen you mention your “church basket” a couple of times. Is this just for in the car or something that you take into services with you?
