Family Evening

We are having a wonderful, family evening at home tonight.  The boys and I did the mega-shop today, including purchasing some 25 lb. bags of grains (some of which were only ordered and will have to be picked up in the city another day).  We were able to buy a few food items in advance for holiday celebrations, too.  All in all it was a successful shopping trip.

We did, however, get a very late start.  I wanted to have the laundry done before we went, and my good neighbor lady came over for a chat, too.  The boys and I rolled into the driveway just before 7:00 this evening.  Dani had been home for just a couple of hours, and it was so good to see her.  She has a cold, but she doesn’t feel bad.  She helped put all of the purchases away, but we’ve left all the things for the outdoor storage to be put away tomorrow.  She and I have been chatting and catching up a bit throughout the evening.  My husband came in the door just as we were eating and we shared our sub sandwiches with him.

We are settling in this evening around the fire, with just the Christmas lights on, to watch a holiday movie together.  I’m looking forward to having my family together for the evening.

God bless you as you look well to the ways of your households!

  • your days are such a comforting blessing to read about. When things get stressed and too rushed here I think about your days, say a prayer, smile and slow down alittle and count my blessings. God sure is good to us

  • Glad you get to have some quiet family time with the whole family! Praying for Dani that she may feel well in no time!

  • I always think of you on your (our) “mega-shopping” fridays as it falls on the same friday as mine. I am trying to find big pails with lids to store the flour and stuff-where did you find yours and do your lids screw or do the pop off?

    Your friday evening sounded wonderful!

Have a wonderful day taking care of your household Cheryl!

  • We’re trying out your Chicken & Dressing Casserole tonight! I was able to find the ‘chicken cream of mushroom soup’ at a local grocery store here – no problem. :fun:

We’re going to eat by the fireplace in the living room…a nice cool day outside to enjoy the inside warmth.

    Bless your day, Cheryl…

  • Your evening sounds wonderful!  So peaceful!

I have been wondering if you have any advice for us young moms out here; specifically how you managed your household when your babies were small.  I have a two-month-old, and Lord willing I will have a few more, but I can see myself getting overwhelmed very quickly with household tasks and taking care of infants and toddlers.  Any thoughts?

Thanks again for the blessing of your blog!

  • My mega shop Friday went quite well and fast.  I think it’s because we went quite a bit earlier than usual.  I think I’ll make that a regular occurance.  Usually we end up at Wal-Mart at 3PM give or take a few minutes and it gets to be a madhouse.  Going 2 hours earlier makes everything so much more relaxing.  We were in and out in a flash.  ๐Ÿ™‚

As I type this, we’re sitting here enjoying a Christmas show and the fireplace too.  We’re bracing for a really bad winter storm that’s due to hit us right around 1AM and last until 1PM.  With all the sleet, freezing rain and snow we’ll be getting we’re staying home from church so that we stay toasty and warm.  ๐Ÿ™‚   Being warm is a good thing.  :coolman:

    Blessings,

  • It sounds like another beautiful day spent with your family. I hope Dani gets over her cold soon. Have a great evening!

  • I love to read about how happy you are when your sweet Dani girl comes home!  You have such a neat relationship with your daughters.  I think they are both the bees knees too!
