A New Week Begins

Do you look forward to Mondays?  I do.  I’m sure a lot of my joy in Mondays comes from the fact that my husband is home on Monday.  I do look forward to Mondays for other reasons, too.  After a day of worship, fellowship and rest on Sunday, I’m ready for the fresh, new week ahead of me.

Monday is the day that the plans jotted down on Saturday and mulled over during quiet times on Sunday are set into motion.  Menu plans are worked out, printed up and posted.  Notes made over the course of the last week are planned into the schedule to be worked on during the week.  The inspiration of a decorating project nearly finished brings thoughts of being able to do those fun “finishing touches”, and the beauty of seeing a finished project spurs me on to plan the next project.  Sewing projects, those that seemed so daunting in the busyness of last week’s end, seem doable now with the dawn of a new week.  And, of course, the thought of a new week of educating my children at home – the new books we’ll begin, the discussions we’ll have, and the problems we’ll solve together – is always a pleasant reminder of my biblical calling to homeschool.

Oh, I’m not so naive to think that all of my carefully thought out plans and hopes for the coming week will all come to fruition.  Remember, I’m the chief exhorter to hold your plans loosely and allow the Lord to lead your days.  However, I find such joy in the planning; and the knowledge that there are now six full days ahead of me to accomplish what I can of my own plans, while yielding to His plan, is a true delight to me!

It’s Monday, ladies!!!  Yee haw!!  Let’s go!

God bless you as you look well to the ways of your household!

  • Mondays are really one of my favorite days of the week! For the reasons you listed, without of course the fact that my husband is NOT off on Monday. I have made it a  habit in the last year to plan a special meal for Monday including a yummy dessert every Monday to help make Monday special for my family so they too can begin to look forward to a new week.

  • I love Mondays!!!  They are my favorite day of the week and glad to know I am not alone in that.

I wanted to also just say a big Thank You for what you are doing here!  You make a huge difference in the lives of so many!  It is so nice to have a lady like yourself here to not only encourage others but be an example to us all.  I love reading about your day and how you share your heart throughout each post.  Just love that!

    Have a wonderful Monday!

  • I am the opposite. Mondays and Saturdays I dread. Sunday is my favorite day of the week. But nonetheless, I am inspired by your post to look at Mondays in a new light.

    🙂

  • To be honest sometimes I dread Monday’s and sometimes I just love Monday’s.
Thank you for sharing a new way to view Monday’s now.

  • Mondays are our Friday. DH is off on Tues. and Wed., and step-daughters come on Sunday night through either Wed. or Thurs.

Usually my shop day is Tues. or Wed. so DH can help me, but since DSD10 was here alone without DSD14 this week, she and I went today and took care of the few things that we needed to buy.

Tomorrow the Aussie gets shaved and we are opening the pool, and of course the temps changed and it will be down to freezing Tues, night LOL It is supposed to rain all weekend, so that can help bring the pool up to level, then we can just adjust the chemicals.

I would have loved to have some of Copper’s waffles this morning

    Have a blessed week!

  • I enjoy Monday’s, too. Usually Sunday is a late night so it’s a little hard getting things started on Monday morning, but all in all I really like the start of a new week. Thanks for posting about your daily life. I love reading your posts as well as your daughter’s (in-love, etc). Many blessings!

  • What a great motivater!  I have such a hard time on the weekend.  I know I am not the only one, and I know you have addressed this before.  It is like I run out of gas, mentally and physically and just can’t go anymore on the weekend.  I suppose it doesn’t help when we are overly busy over the weend.  If I could do some planning for the week ahead, I am sure I too could feel the anticipation for Monday the way you do.   I always feel dread, because I am always so unprepared!  Preparation…..something I need to really work on!:wha:
