And Yet…..

A strong north wind blew all day today.  I’ve always found the north wind to be irritating.  It causes static electricity in my home.  It dries the ground and causes trees and plants to become parched, and I’ve spent a couple of hours outside today keeping garden seedlings watered, irrigating the orchard, and watering the strawberries so that they won’t dry out.  The north wind often makes everyone grumpy.  And yet……..

Sitting on my front porch, sheltered a bit from the worst of the wind and feeling only a swirling,  very cool breeze around me, both sets of wind chimes sing merrily with every gust.  The sound of the wind as it blows through the trees reminds me of the ocean’s waves crashing onto a rock strewn shoreline.  If I close my eyes, I can almost see the coast line!  The sound brings me a sense of wonder at God’s creation.

All things are from His good hand, even the north wind.  Today I made the choice to enjoy the sweet blessings brought by the north wind through the delightful sounds of the wind in the trees and of my wind chimes ringing; and I praised God for allowing me to see His hand in even the north wind.

God bless you as you look well to the ways of your household!

  • Once again, attitude is a choice. Dear me,  I must admit my attitude wasn’t exactly the right choice this particular day. sigh.

    Bless you,

  • Jane is right…attitude is what it is all about. Thank you for the example of gratitude in even those things that do not seem worthy.

  • I like this post, you used very vivid imagery in your words, and I could feel like I was part of your day.

  • You must live somewhere so… south?

We were enjoying some nice spring-y weather, hanging out laundry, the first dandelions (oh yay.), lots of eggs from the chickens…  And today we woke up to a few inches of snow!  And it’s still coming down!  What a difference!  My girls asked me if I thought it was pretty.. I said, if it was Christmas it would be pretty.  Not as pretty at Easter… 🙂

  • Great post!  I love windchimes!  I don’t have any yet.  Can’t wait to be sitting on my back porch, in warmer weather, enjoying the chimes, pretty flowers and green grass!

I just love your place!  It is very pretty!

  • For some reason when I read your blog your pictures cover half of the printed words??  Does this happen to others?

  • @Elizabeth –  I’m not exactly sure, but it sounds like either a problem with your browser (which do you use?), or perhaps your screen resolution is set too low.  Please let me know if you continue to have problems.
