Saturday Acrostic

Safety first!  The lush green color of the grass, in the two acres or so where we graze our sheep, is no more.  The grass is dry and has turned brown, it seems, overnight.  We won’t see green there again until late next fall.  Grass fires are a serious danger in our neck of the woods, and our county requires that we create a significant fire break along all of our property lines.  The mowing needs to be done before 10:00 a.m. while there is still enough dew on the grass so that an errant spark from the mower doesn’t catch the grass on fire.  Don’t laugh, it happened to a family down the road a couple of years ago.  Aaron was out filling the mower with gas by 7:45 a.m.  I promised him a big pancake breakfast when he came in at 10:00.  Can you tell which picture was taken after Aaron spotted the camera?

Air dried – line dried bed linens.  Bliss!

Titus 2 woman and blogging buddy, Brenda, has done a great series this week countering Frugal Myths that we might believe.  There were three parts here, here and here and they are terrific.  Brenda knows what she’s talking about when it comes to living on less while still living a beautiful life.

Unwrapping and digging into some new homeschool materials that arrived yesterday.  I’m looking forward to working a couple of these items into our day immediately, and the others will be worked in in the coming weeks.  I’ll let you know if I’ve discovered any great new treasures.

Recommending that you give Google Reader a try!  I’ve used Bloglines to follow all of my favorite blogs and news sites for years, but the service has been very disappointing for the last couple of months.  Several of the blogs I follow have not had their posts picked up in a timely manner with Bloglines, and Bloglines has not picked up ANY of my own posts since the end of April.  Google Reader is easy to learn and it has been very reliable (and it’s a nicer service than Xanga Subscriptions).  I highly recommend it!   Use the handy button near the top of my side bar.

Delight yourself in the Lord !

Take the five minutes to watch the whole video.  (HT to Ann @ Holy Experience)  And hey, next time you see the crazy lady in the car next to you at the stop light singing and lifting her hands, don’t honk at me, okay?

Available!  In God’s wonderful providence, I found myself with a lighter than normal laundry and outdoor watering load than most Saturdays hold.  That left me completely available, and unstressed, to take a lengthy phone call from a beloved friend and neighbor who just needed to talk some things through.  How thankful I am that God works ahead of me, outside of my knowledge, to make the way in my day for these opportunities.  (We’re still enjoying the lovely flowers this same friend brought us on Thursday.)

Yawning and dog tired at the end of the day.  The beds are made with clean, fresh smelling linens.  The church basket is packed with Bibles, pens, and notebooks.  Our contributions to the weekly fellowship lunch/potluck are cooked and ready to go.  Our serving utensils are labeled and ready to go, too.  Church clothes are ironed and after church play clothes packed.  There is gas in the van.  We’re all set!  How about you?

Have a blessed Lord’s Day tomorrow!

God bless you as you look well to the ways of your household!
