Monday Meanderings

I’ve recently run across a few things that were too good to keep to myself.  I’d like to share them with you.

Leila (Like Mother, Like Daughter) has some great thoughts about order and the importance a Sunday well spent has on your home and family.

Ever given your children instructions when you left home, only to come home and find things went not quite according to plan?  How did you react?  I love Nancy Wilson’s sage advice on preventive prayer for this and other similar situations.  I have this post bookmarked to read again and again and again and……….

How do you respond to criticism?  What if the accusations were false?  This great article, from C. J. Mahaney’s blog, on The Gospel and Personal Criticism was wonderful and very edifying.

There are two recent podcasts from Crown Financial Ministries that I highly recommend.  The first, from May 27, is a terrific resource for those of you whose children may not be headed for college.  It would also be terrific for anyone who might be in the market for a new job.  The program, featuring the top 20 paying careers that do not require a college education, is just a 24 minute listen, but it’s packed with information.

The second podcast, from June 4, is on Urban Homesteading.  While the speaker now lives on a 7 acre homestead, she has plenty of good gardening advice for those of you living in the city, and even those of you in apartments.  Pour a cup of tea and enjoy the 24 minute podcast on your computer.

I hope these links will bless and encourage you.  Let me know.

God bless you as you look well to the ways of your household!

  • CJ’s blog is priceless!  If you’ve never read The Cross and Criticism by Peacemaker’s ministry, look it up.. absolutely fabulous.  Thank you for the other links.. already headed over there for a little morning reading!

I also wanted to thank you for your suggestions regarding “start small” in response to a question I had on a previous blog you posted about gardening.  I talked it over with my husband and we’re making plans about raised beds and where to place them around our yard.  We’re pretty excited about it.

    Have a blessed day, sister!

  • Thanks for the links.  I’m sure they will make better reading/listening than the morning news sensationalisms.  May you have a blessed week.

  • To Steve:

I want to tell you that I did not delete your comment because you disagreed with me.  I deleted your comment because it contained a host of non-identifiable html code.  The only thing indentifiable as readable text were the two links you left at the end of the comment.  I routinely delete comments that contain only links to other sites.

If you have a disagreement with the author of one of the blogs I linked to, take it up with him/her.  If you feel that a link I’ve listed in this post has some sort of glaring error in it, I’d be pleased for you to contact me personally with your thoughts.  A comment here, stating your disagreement with one of the links in this post, would also be allowed to remain so long as you stated your diagreement fully without just leaving a link or links to another site to state your case.  It would also be considerate to leave your own email information with your comment so that folks might contact you directly.

Steve, I’m sure you meant well, and I bear you no ill will.  I would welcome you to leave your comment again so long as it was a real comment and not just a link to another site.

    God bless you.
