Dani in our blueberry patch.

Pretty –

Dani, my pretty girl, in our blueberry patch. The blueberry bushes are loaded with berries this year. Our freezer will be full!

 Cluster of blueberries

Happy –

All those blueberries are making me very happy! This is just one small branch on just one bush. Blueberry Buckle. Blueberry Cobbler. Blueberry Muffins. Yes, the abundance of blueberries on our bushes this year makes me very happy. We have a couple of different varieties so they will be ripening at different times over the course of the next month or so.

Asparagus masquerading as an Eggplant

An Asparagus front masquerading as an Eggplant.

Funny –

Dani planted a smallish garden for us this year. Just two days ago, there was a big, beautiful, lush, and covered in blossoms Eggplant in this very spot. It disappeared. Whoosh! Gone! Someone (I suspect Copper) thought they were funny and “planted” this Asparagus stem in its place. It would be hysterical but for the fact that that beautiful Eggplant is gone.

 Row of dying potatoes

Real –

The sad reality is that we have some sort of varmint in our garden. This entire row of potatoes is dying and we suspect that whatever  is killing the potatoes is also responsible for the disappearance of the Eggplant. Gopher? Voles? We’re hoping to figure out what it is before we lose any more plants. In the meantime, we’ll keep tending the plants that remain.
