The Weekly Menu – Week of July 30, 2012

August arrives this month, and with it all of the end-of-summer craziness of trying to squeeze in as much summer fun as we can, while still allowing ourselves enough time to plan, organize and get ready for the start of school in September. We have several family birthdays this month, summer baseball happens this month (12 games in four weeks!), we’re hoping to take a trip or two to the beach, and Copper and I will be getting away for a few days to celebrate our thirty-fourth anniversary. Yep! August will be full!

Our week starts off fairly quietly, but the last three days are chock full of activities – two baseball games, youth group, a ladies’ Bible study, my husband’s birthday celebration, a 60th Anniversary Party, and Dani will be a vendor at a Street Faire.

These are the times that I’m glad that menu planning is a fairly normal part of our routine. Menus for this next week were planned with the week’s activities in mind. Dinners for the two evenings we have baseball games are either quick to fix spaghetti (with sauce from a jar) or deli subs bought at the grocery store while doing the marketing. Remember – those sorts of meals are okay, at least from time to time. The meals for the rest of the week reflect a more leisurely pace, while still allowing us to prepare meals without too much time spent in the kitchen. It is still summer, after all, and we’ve a lot of fun still planned!

Breakfast – Waffles
Lunch – Meat Sandwiches, Chips
Dinner – Spaghetti, Green Salad, Garlic Bread (after the game)

Breakfast – Cereal
Lunch – Taco Salad
Dinner – Conga Lime Pork, Corn Muffins, Mango – Broccoli Slaw 

Breakfast – Scrambled Eggs, Cinnamon Toast
Lunch – Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Baby Carrots & Ranch Dip
Dinner – Hawaiian Chicken & Bacon Pizza, Green Salad

Breakfast – Rolled Five Grain Hot Cereal
Lunch – Dani’s Choice
Dinner – Burger Patties with Mushroom Gravy, Rice, Zucchini

Breakfast – Pancakes
Lunch – Boys on their own, Dani & I in town for the Fortnightly Marketing Peregrination
Dinner – Deli Sub Sandwiches, Chips (after the game)

Breakfast – Cereal
Lunch – Meat Sandwiches, Chips (after the game)
Dinner – Nachos

Breakfast – Audrey’s Coffee Cake
Lunch – Out after church
Dinner – Family Celebration of Copper’s Birthday!
