Attention! It’s Still Summer!

No matter what site I visit on the Internet these days, folks are talking about fall. Fall sales. Fall decorating. Christmas ideas!!!!!

Attention, everyone! It’s still summer!

Fall has always been my favorite season, for a variety of reasons; but this year I am savoring every, single day of summer. With the official start of fall arriving at 4:44 p.m. on September 22, by my calculations, we still have five and half weeks of summer left. Five and a half weeks, people!!

We still have plenty of summer left for swimming and staying up too late. Copper and I still have our annual trip to the coast ahead of us. There are still a couple of landscape projects that we need to tackle before fall. No need to rush. There is still plenty of summer yet to come. I plan to make the most of it.

Tomorrow morning we will meet with the designer to sign our contract and finalize design details for the kitchen remodel. The next morning, a crew will be out to take the final “official” measurements and then materials will be ordered. Even though we are weeks away from demolition of my less than perfect kitchen, I’m already thinking about the finishing touches. I’ve decided on a color scheme of aqua and red, and I’m looking forward to the day, weeks and weeks from now, when the first roller full of aqua blue paint will go onto the walls of my new kitchen.

I have several things I’m working on to share with you, as fall draws near, but for the next week or two, I will be enjoying summer. I may, or may not, pop in here or on the facebook page, with some quick updates; but I will be back toward the end of August with lots to share.

Here’s a peek at what’s ahead.

  • paperless home management
  • homemaking as art
  • life long learning
  • updated homeschool curriculum reviews
  • book reviews
  • menu planning
  • encouragement for you as you look well to the ways of your household

Happy summer! See you soon!

I too, keep thinking about Fall and see that the discount stores (Ross, Marshalls, etc.) are starting to get their Fall candles, etc in. Summer is still here and I can attest to it as we are having temps in the 90’s here in S.E. Florida :). Enjoy the rest of the summer.

    • I think it’s great that the stores have all their fall merchandise in. It’s just bugging me that everyone acts like fall is upon us. We’re still having temps in the 90’s here, too, and it’s a good bet that we’ll have another 100*+ stretch before the weather cools for good something in early October. Hope the rest of your summer is great, Jill!

I think part of the reason, at least in our neck of the woods, school started a week ago, and that always makes fall seem close. We even have some leaves starting to turn and gardens have that “done” look to them. I too love fall but like having a few weeks of summer left. But it has been a humid, hot, miserable summer that was hard to really enjoy.

    • A lot of the schools here went back last week, too, and others will be starting over the next couple of weeks. The start of school does seem “fallish”, doesn’t it? I’m still clinging to what’s left of summer! πŸ˜‰

  • Paperless home management…looking forward to this post!

  • “Have I ever told you how much I love, simply love” Fiestaware? It’s so awesome!

Look at how white his hair is! It’s just screaming “dye me!!!” He may or may not have striped, polka dot, or glow-in-the-dark hair when you get back. I make no promises. πŸ˜‰

I’m SO excited about your kitchen! I can’t wait to see it all in place! πŸ˜€

I love your “cling to summer” attitude!! I am very much looking forward to your thoughts on paperless home management. I am trying to fight the valiant fight against the paper but I win battles and not the war. I have signed up for Evernote, largely on your recommendation but I haven’t really done much else. I need to go back and read your previous posts and see if I can’t make some headway in this area. Enjoy your time away!!
