Tuesday June 5, 2007
Yesterday was a profitable day. My husband and the boys came home with five beautiful rainbow trout. He remembered to take the camera with him, but forgot to use it. One of the other men and his two sons took home seven, but the third man and his son were disappointed. That’s the way it goes when you’re…

I have had this large Tupperware Season Serve container for a long time. Twenty years maybe. It really has become my favorite piece. Obviously, it’s primary use is for marinating meat. The bumps inside the bottom and lid of the container serve two purposes. The bumps on the bottom hold the meat up a bit so…

We received a phone call late last night from my husband’s dad letting us know that his mom, my husband’s grandmother, had gone home to the Lord. She passed very peacefully with her two living children at her bedside. She was 101 years old. She will be missed, but we are blessed in the knowledge…

My guys have all gone fishin’! The Bing Crosby – Louis Armstrong “Gone Fishin’ ” duet is going through my brain today. Their favorite fishing spot is a two hour drive up through the foothills and almost to what you would call the mountains. We usually make it a family outing. This time, though, they’re…

Chocolate Swirl Coffee Cake
This is one of my all time favorite coffee cakes. Hmmmm……you don’t suppose it has anything to do with the semi-sweet chocolate swirl do you? This recipe makes just an 8 x 8 pan, but that’s enough for my family of five for breakfast, and for a couple of us to have for a snack…

The uncles enjoyed having a couple of days off from school to play with their nephews and niece . Uncle Will and the grandkids have had a blast on the trampoline. Uncle Aaron has pushed our sweet princess #1 in the swing a few times. My oldest grandson even pulled down some weeping willow branches…

Fresh Berry Pie
Fresh berry pie is a special treat that my family looks forward to every year. My mama started making these fresh berry pies thirty years or so ago. They are an annual tradition for us as soon as our Young Berries (a type of blackberry) ripen. I know that it’s possible to make your own pie…

Cheryl’s Stroganoff Meatballs
Whenever I take my Stroganoff Meatballs to a potluck, I always get recipe requests. Kids love them! Most people assume that the “secret” for these tasty meatballs is in the sauce and that they can just use any old meatball for this dish. Not so! The “secret” is in the meatballs themselves! Making the meatballs takes just…

I had another light bulb moment yesterday. Okay, truth be told, most of my “light bulb” moments really are more along the lines of “duh” moments; but having a light bulb moment sounds better! I’ve been battling seasonal allergies for a few weeks now. Nothing horrible, but I have been taking OTC allergy medications daily. …
